Acreage Report Date and Acreage Report
Worksheets
Final Acreage Reports for
Fall Crops are due by end of December. Please get them to us before December 23rd. The best way to turn in
acres is provide us the FSA Certification Form 578 with maps
or use the Acreage Report Worksheets available in our
office. The worksheet matches Farm Serial Number and Unit to
previously planted APH databases. We will need:
1.
Report number of
acres & plant date
2.
Verify all
farms (including new) are included and reported,
3.
Verify an
Irrigated (02) or Non-irrigated (03) practice, if necessary
write in practice
4.
Indicate
all shareholders with share
5. Verify Entity Number & SBI Information.
Most producers using this
form, save time and benefit from fewer mistakes. Please
return on completion so we may fill in landlords Acreage
Reports, then verify & sign prior to deadline.
Plant Dates & Late Planting
Final Planting Dates for
Wheat are (see late planting options below):
November 30 for
Floyd, County
November 15 for
Hale, Crosby, Lubbock, Swisher & Briscoe Counties
(see late planting options below):
Please contact our office
for other crops.
Wheat has a late
planting period. Coverage is reduced by 1% for each day
past the final plant date listed above. After the late
planting period you may still plant and have a choice to:
1.
Insure the Crop at the Prevented Planting Level (60%
of Coverage) or
2.
Choose not to insure.
Acres not insured must still
be reported so production does not count against other
insured acres. Uninsurable crops must be included on Acreage
Report. Production from non-insured acres can not be
credited to APH databases.
If you plant after the late
planting period, we need a revised acreage report.
Irrigation and Notes
It is very important to
properly report Irrigated & Non Irrigated Acres. Irrigated
practice losses due to lack of irrigation, heat, drought,
etc. will not be paid. Practice may not be revised after
Acreage Reporting Date.
Non Irrigated
Spring Crops are Non
Insurable behind Fall Crops that are Grazed, Hayed, or
Harvested, unless Fall Crop is mechanically or chemically
terminated by March 15th.
Loss Reports and Production Reports
Delayed Loss Reports can
cost you and landlords if not timely reported. Please call
in Loss Notice as soon as loss is evident and prior to
end of insurance..
Please make sure we receive
ALL Completed production for Spring Crops as units are
completed. We need to verify losses for you and the landlord
as some landlords have different levels.
Your elevator may fax
production to 806-983-2510 if properly separated &
identified. For 2007 we are not allowed to get your production. The high yields for Dryland Cotton will cause audits for excessive yields. Please ask the Gin or Elevator to sign the production and keep records for the audits.
CRC – Higher Cotton Harvest
Prices Mean Increased Dollar Guarantees
Higher CRC prices are not
simple enough to explain in this document. To summarize:
1.
The CRC Harvest Price Increased 3-cents for Cotton.Increasing Dollars Guaranteed.Producers losing Cotton Early. Checks for this amount have already been received.
2.
The CRC Harvest Price Increased for Grain Sorghum but few losses were reported. .
Program Changes
For 2008 RMA has stated that Reported Wheat Acres cannot be changed after Acreage Reporting Date. That means a little patch of Wheat planned for cover cannot be changed to Insurable Wheat for Harvest. The Unreported Field Production can be used to offset losses on Properly Insured Acres.
Also the wording has changed for the handling of losses. Last year Agents were not allowed to go to the field with adjusters. For 2008 the wording is “Agents are not to discuss losses with producers”. We suggest you call Plain Cotton
Growers and your congressman to report the poor procedure.
Please be careful how you word complaints. They feel agent
involvement in the loss process is a conflict of interest.
Farm Works Free Technology Seminar January 8, 2008 TAMU Research Station in Lubbock
Farm Works Software is the program we use to make your maps with GPS Mapping. The program has been improved so it is much easier for record keeping such as variety test or budgeting. We are not going to try to sell you a program unless you want to keep records at home. We simply want you to know what we can help you do here to improve our service. I think everyone will see an opportunity to improve record keeping, plan for tax season, and keep maps up to date. Please call our office for details. If you already own a Farm Works Program a training session will be held in Amarillo on January 9-10th, 2008. The fee based training is $150 for 2 days that will be very valuable if you use the software. The Lubbock Seminar is free.
